So I'm trying my hand at a bit of video production. Not that video I posted below as that was just posted. But elsewhere. I've very quickly found out my 2008 MacBook struggles with HD video processing. Possibly how I'd struggle riding uphill on a bike. Painful to watch, stutterers to a stop sometimes, will get there eventually and there's a decent chance of just falling over and collapsing. I don't blame my trusty old MacBook. It's just getting on a bit – like me.
So IMMEDIATELY I'm thinking it's an awesome excuse to upgrade. Course there goes at least a grand if I do. And then I start thinking about a PC potentially. PC gaming in particular. I look at the Steam Sale, Day-Z which looks broken but fun and entirely not available for OSX. Both my consoles are just gathering dust. And I really need to cancel the bloody online memberships for them…
But Jayzuz I hate PCs. I don't want to think about firewalls and antivirus. I haven't had to for years. Yes there are nasty things available for OSX but practically all of them you have to give permission to install … so its your own fault. Don't whine,
But I could easily upgrade a PC. Swap out parts as better ones become available. I already have an HD monitor sitting idle on my desk (as it has the dusty PS3 hooked up to it).
Argh who knows. Could just throw the money in my savings account – far more sensible, and prudent, and boring…
