Yup, it would be photos here as well, everything else is replaceable. I actually need to have a review of the syncing and storage. Have planned to use Dropbox for 1password for ages but haven't got around to it (as it does a nifty wifi sync when I remember). There's a folder on my NAS for reinstalling if I need to. Apple need to beef up the iCloud functionality but that'll come in time I guess (just got ability to delete photos from photo stream which was a crazy omission).

And if they could spend some of that cash sorting out the mess that is iTunes that would be a VERY GOOD THING. Have all music in iTunes match now because I got so sick of trying to manage it. Nuked everything locally and just download to a device when I want to listen now.

Thought about Smugmug ages ago but can't remember why I didn't go for it, must look at it again.

Yeah, so, what I meant to say was - if the house blew up or got ransacked the photos are safe. Just the photos. But then everything else is replaceable.

And look what just popped up: http://www.theverge.com/2012/4/24/2972228/cloud-storage-terms-of-service-comparison-avoid-google-drive

I have a NAS here onto which files are placed which others in the house might like to see too (it's some default RAID). Music is backed up onto another drive (which backs up to another drive). I could do with a drive to backup games to. And the photos that matter are in Smugmug.
But I like the idea of smooth working between mini/macbook so I want to symlink more files into Skydrive. It would make OS reinstall so much easier. ~/mark maybe ..

A good rule of thumb is if a company wants to monetize me or my information then I avoid. Provide me a good service and I'll pay for it - simple.

My primary storage is two network drives at home. I can't see me needing beyond 3TBs right now. I have 25GB on iCloud, but that's handy for the sheer amount of Apple devices in this house. Dropbox as well. I bought Logmein Pro so I think I have access to their new service Cubby. Not even factoring in the unlimited storage I have on my hosting account either.

Google is so late to the party on this.

Don't scare me about Dropbox. I really liked Instagram and am watching what's going to happen to that closely.

..... and why would you put even more into a company with zero support so if the day arrives and your account is locked you lose those files into Google? Sure you still have your local copy - though I'm sure they'll reassure people that they don't even need that - but you lose access to delete. You need to be mad to trust Google.

Dropbox? Someone just has to make them an offer they can't refuse. And imagine if that someone were Facebook...

I have the 25gb of SkyDrive and of all the current players I do trust Microsoft.
